Uznávaný lékař je obviněn z vraždy své ženy. McCabe je přesvědčen o jeho vině, avšak díky falešnému alibi doktorovy milenky je žaloba stažena. Tlusťoch pošle svého vyšetřovatele Jakea Stylese, aby se v přestrojení ucházel o místo jeho řidiče a našel důkazy, kterými by jej usvědčil. Brzy se ukazuje, že lékař je velký puntičkář, ale zároveň velice žárlivý muž, což začne vyšetřovatele s doktorovou milenkou sbližovat.
