Dr. Ogdenová, detektiv Murdoch, inspektor Brackenreid a další policisté přepravují sériového vraha Jamese Gilliese do věznice v Kingstonu. Čeká tam na něj poprava. Mezi cestujícími pořádný rozruch a zděšení způsobí informace, kdo s nimi pojede ve vlaku. Během jízdy pak policie nalezne v jednom voze mrtvého Dennise Boltona, který byl nedávno propuštěn z vězení. Největší podezření z vražedného činu padá na dvojici cestujících Aarona Raulse a Nathaniela Henryho.
