Detektiv Murdoch vyšetřuje smrt Emily Fullerové, jejíž nehybné tělo bylo nalezeno na břehu řeky. Zdá se, že žena utonula. Jeremiah Fuller přijímá od policie tuto informaci zcela netečně a bez jakéhokoliv hodnotícího komentáře. Dcera Betty říká, že otec se chová takto podivně již několik dní. Dr. Graceová zjišťuje, že Emily zemřela jinak, než zněl původní předpoklad. Po pitvě je zřejmé, že ji někdo uškrtil. Konstábl Crabtree přichází s verzí, že Jeremiah není živý, je vlastně zombie a vstal z mrtvých. Dr. Graceová brzy zkoumá mozek další nalezené oběti.
