V době dočasné nepřítomnosti inspektora Breckenrieda se do jeho kanceláře nastěhuje detektiv Watts. Ten údajně musel z osobních důvodů odejít z Policejní stanice l, skutečné důvody nejsou známy. Paní Frizzelové někdo otrávil jejího čtyřnohého miláčka Horáce. Nejspíše to způsobil někdo z torontských majitelů výstavních psů. Ve městě totiž za dva dny začíná psí výstava a její Horác patřil mezi největší šampióny. Detektiv Murdoch tak ke své nelibosti musí řešit případ, v němž pátrá po vrahovi psa…(Česká televize)
