Koronerka Julia Ogdenová má již mrtvol plné zuby, a proto se rozhodla „tnout do živého“. S podporou svého manžela Williama Murdocha (a tajnou záští asistentky Violet Hartové) se Julia stává vycházející hvězdou studia chirurgie. V dobově podmíněné atmosféře ale musí bojovat nejen s nevraživostí kolegů mužského oboru, ale také s šíleným vrahem, který řádí v renomované nemocnici primáře Forbese. Ohrožen je jak Juliin diplom, když začne k nelibosti zúčastněných pátrat po zabijákovi ve vlastních řadách, tak životy mnoha pacientů, jelikož vrah dokáže zabíjet pod rouškou „přirozené“ smrti.(Česká televize)
