Volební den. Detektiv Murdoch i konstábl Crabtree se dobrovolně vzdali možnosti hlasování, aby mohli dohlížet na jeho bezpečnost a klidný průběh. Inspektor Brackenreid na ulici nalezl mrtvého muže. Později se ukáže, že jeho jméno je McCarthy a ve městě pracoval jako tajný agent pro člena ottawské špionáže Terrence Meyerse. Torontské sufražetky zjistí, že jediná ženská kandidátka není záměrně uvedena na volebních listech.
