Detektiv Murdoch vyšetřuje případ tajemného úmrtí poté, co byla pod betonovou podlahou Policejní stanice č. 4., právě procházející rekonstrukcí, nalezena lidská kostra. Doktorka Graceová určí, že obětí byl dospělý muž, příčinou jeho smrti se s největší pravděpodobností stala rána do spánku. Původní betonování podlahy proběhlo dne 22. 6. 1881. Záznamy z této doby ukazují, že vrchní konstábl Giles na místní policejní stanici tehdy působil ve funkci detektiva. Murdoch a Crabtree zjistí, že neznámou obětí byl konstábl Finch. Kousky rozbitého skla z fotografického negativu, který byl pohřben s obětí, se stanou nezvykle důležitou stopou, která je dovede až k vrahovi...(Česká televize)
